Due to jam-packed schedules, many people struggle to find time in the day to make sure they are maintaining a nutritious and healthy diet. Here are four tips that can help take the pressure off!
Meal prep and pre-portion snacks. I understand this may mean taking the time to batch-cook something that will last you the whole week. But, meal-prepping will free up time later on that you would have usually wasted stressing about what you want to eat and how you’re going to find the time to make it. By portioning off an hour or two of your Sunday arvo to prepare a week’s worth of healthy lunches or dinners, you’re doing yourself a massive favour. With that being said, there’s also no shame in buying nutritious pre-packaged snacks if it means you’re going to be able to get more food into your system during a busy day. Whatever works for you!
If this seems like too much effort, you might even want to consider microwave meals. Many people assume that these are unhealthy and full of processed nasties, but I can assure you that there are many great healthy options for microwave meals. When done right this can be an even easier alternative to meal-prepping.
Don’t forget about the water! Drinking a decent amount of water throughout the day often gets overlooked, but is a crucial way to keep your energy levels up and make sure your body is staying hydrated. Consider investing in a reusable water bottle to take everywhere. Keep it on your desk at work, in your car, handbag, and next to your bed.
Eating a substantial amount of food when you have the time can be a great way to make sure you’re getting the right nutrition. Start with a big breakfast that will keep you going until lunch. This will mean your energy levels won’t feel too low by the time lunch rolls around, and there will be no need to waste time looking for snacks in between (unless, of course, they are your pre-packaged snacks we discussed earlier).
